DIVINE DIVA INTERVIEW WITH VANESSA RICO

When you faced obstacles or fears along the way how did you overcome them, and move beyond them?

Whenever an obstacle arises I make sure to think over all possible outcomes before really addressing the issue at hand. I have learned to never react immediately to an issue. It’s best to give things some time to allow full absorption and be able to decipher what is the best remedy to correct the problem.

What or who inspires you and why?

Glitter! I look at all the beautiful shades of glitter and think what would this look amazing on. I also think what would I purchase with my hard-earned money. That truly guides me down the path of designing things I am most proud of.

If you could go back in time and change anything about your life would you change anything? If so what would you change and why?

If I could go back in time I would change my major in college 100%. I am a liberal studies major because I wanted to be a 2nd grade teacher so badly then open up a tutoring center later in my career. Unfortunately, we had a recession and the education field was so negatively affected it crushed my dreams of providing quality education and sincere attention to young children. My own professors stopped caring about my education even though I was still paying an arm and a leg for it. I didn’t want to be phased by the money aspect like they were. I graduated and never became a teacher. Instead I continued with my corporate job due to the security of it and wished I had gone into a psychology field. Psychology has always been an interest of mine but I felt more passionate about teaching at the time. Now I still work corporate, have my shop and just try and enjoy life as much as I possibly can.

What do you feel is your greatest achievement?

To be completely honest, I feel my greatest accomplishment is still to come. I have worked hard and done things that make me happy but I feel that I am still working towards something amazing. I have my proud moments like finding love, having my job for almost 10 years, having financial stability, and taking charge of my life.

What are the most important lessons you have learned along the way?

Never let anyone take away your will power. We are all born equal and have different destinies. Free will is the drive we all have within ourselves to make the decisions we believe are best and are willing to accept any and all consequences for them. You must honor your free will to be happy in life.

What do you hope others will remember most about you and your life?

I hope people will remember I was a nice person, a genuine friend and someone who was trust worthy.

What is the best advice you would give other women who are not sure what path to choose in their life?

Get out into the world and work different jobs! The only way to know what path in life to take is to get out there and try out everything you can. Then you’ll know what makes you happy in life and find a way to make it financially beneficial to you and your future.
